Board Member · SOUNDS Academy
I’m Brianna Clark, and I joined the Sounds Academy board because music shaped my life, from learning flute in 5th grade to playing in orchestra and marching band where I made lifelong friends and met my husband. I believe music builds character through perseverance, teamwork, and resilience, and too many students don’t get access in school. Sounds Academy helps fill that gap every year, and I’ve seen its impact firsthand in my own family.

Hi everyone, I'm Brianna Clark, and I'm so excited to introduce myself as a member of the Sounds Academy board of directors. My own love for music started back in 5th grade when I learned how to play the flute in school, and it led to so much more down the road in high school. I learned how to play the oboe and the French horn. My best memories are from orchestra and marching band and camps, and I have some of the my biggest lifelong friendships from music. I even met my husband in marching band. And music is so much more than learning notes. It's a really powerful foundation for character development in our future. It teaches perseverance and teamwork and resilience, and we know that so many students don't have access to music education in schools. And Sounds Academy does such a great job by stepping into that fill that gap every year, and I'm really. proud of the work that sounds does. I experienced that actually in my own family. We had our teenage daughter who attended individual piano lessons, and although it was just a short time, it really helped fill that creativity gap for her and help her process what she was navigating at the time. We had the best experience in individual lessons. You don't really know what you don't know. Um, so having those opportunities to music and letting all students experience music education is so important. We'll never see the possibilities of what could be created from students until they have that chance to practice music. It takes such a dedicated community of teachers and parents and supporters to make all of this happen with Sounds Academy, and I'm so excited to be serving on the board alongside all of you who care so deeply about youth development, and I can't wait to see what all of the students will do this year.
